YUKIGASSEN】

Japanese Traditional Sports

Yukigassen is a traditional snow sport in Japan. Every year in the snowy areas of Japan, a national Yukigassen  competition is held. At the same time, practice Yukigassen (indoor Yukigassen) are held in non-snowy areas, using specially made bean bags instead of snowballs, so that the Yukigassen is not restricted by the environment.

The reason why Yukigassen is so popular!!!

  • The evasion techniques are similar to dodgeball, and the attack is like pitching in baseball, which can be used for technical transfer. It has the excitement of a war game , which can increase interest and is safer.

  • Yukigassen competitions require the capture of the opponent's position, and require extreme tactical application, wisdom, dodging, and charging, all of which can satisfy the physical development of young people.

  • Yukigassen is not only a competitive game, but also a form of winter entertainment and social interaction. It can be played at family gatherings, gatherings with friends or school activities to create a fun and friendly atmosphere.

  • One of the characteristics of Yukigassen is the use of tactics and strategies. The forwards and defenders have different functions and need to work together. It is especially suitable for leadership training, highlighting the importance of individuals in the team.

The venue is 38 meters long and 12 meters wide

  • Place an obstacle at midcourt

  • There are three obstacles on each side of the field line.

  • The flags of both teams are placed behind the team's field.

 

Yukigassen Rules

Yukigassen is an outdoor game played in winter or snowy weather, where people engage in friendly fighting and competition in the snow. In Hong Kong, bean bags are used instead of snowballs. Snowball is very similar to snowball fights and attack and defense in terms of competition format, mainly involving two teams fighting against each other.

Starting Setup

A team wins the game if it captures the opposing team's flag without any of its players being ruled out

When all members of one team are knocked out, the other team wins

At the end of each game, the team with more remaining players wins

 

Basic Gameplay

  • The game adopts a best-of-three format, with each game lasting three minutes

  • During the competition, you need to defeat your opponent with snowballs and use special obstacles as cover to be the first to pull down the opponent's flag

  • Each team will send seven players to compete. If more than three players step onto the opponent's field during the game, they will lose

 

Winning Conditions

  • Repair broken snowballs or create new ones during the game

  • A runner who runs away at the start of a match will be considered out

  • The overall shape is less than two-thirds of a snowball

  • Use snowballs that are not in the venue and snowballs from outside the venue

 

Fouls

The game is played in two teams, with 9 players on each side and 7 players on each team

A maximum of 2 substitutes can be added

The 7 players on the field consist of 4 forwards and 3 defenders
